Extending Summer into your Fall Wardrobe

Well the inevitable is happening. The nights are cooling, the leaves are turning, and Autumn is looming. Time for sweaters, hats, boots, and coats. It’s a great excuse for a new outfit. An even better excuse to buy? All the summer clothing on sale now. Fall is the perfect time to get creative with your wardrobe by layering. It is so easy to take a cute summer dress and extend its wearability well into October, November, or even December. Tights, scarves and sweaters can be a tired wardrobe’s best friends. Greatest Outdoor Fashion Show on Earth

Today is officially the kickoff to “the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”. The Calgary Stampede. It is ten days of rodeo events, chuckwagon races, agricultural awareness, deep fried foods, rides, games and total debauchery. One thing that brings it all together is the way everyone puts on their best “western” duds.

Now, being a city girl myself I would never proclaim that I know all there is to know about the country and western aesthetic. I do, however, know that people tend to go a little overboard. One can easily get caught up in leather and rhinestones or denim and turquoise. If its your first time dressing with a cowgirl flair, keep it simple. Pick one or two items like a cute hat or some killer boots, pair it with the perfect jeans and you are ready.

Women’s Capris Get My Legs Kickin’

Every spring when the sun finally comes out from behind the winter clouds, I get that same feeling of hope and anticipation for the warm days ahead. I imagine the fun activities that come too, like gardening, slushy drinks, outdoor concerts and festivals, and what I’ll wear while enjoying these things. Alas, my mind is more advanced than mother nature’s clock and so I must make a fashion compromise. What better way to transition into spring than with capris.

I love the versatility of a cropped pant this time of year. There is still a bite in the air but my ankles have been longing to see the light of day since being hidden away under wool socks back in November. I’m ready to show a little skin and so I wanted to share with you some style ideas for pulling off capris in spring. All the capris and jeans are available at the Mink & Manure online boutique. Some of the tops are also available and everything else is from my closet. Don’t be jealous! Use these pictures as a shopping guide or just as inspiration but make sure to exfoliate and moisturize before you wear (winter is hard on skin).
